Two starting points

Six Sides builds commissions only, so neither of these is a product you order off a page. They are the two shapes I build, and the honest way to read them is as opening positions — the body and the voice we start from, before the spec gets built around how you actually play.

The difference between them is not quality or price. It is what the guitar is for.

The Dreadnought

$9,500

Pre-war Martin inspired. Full-size body, forward-shifted X-bracing, and enough volume to be heard over a banjo.

SuitsBluegrass, flatpicking, rhythm in a jam, playing with other people.

The Parlor

$7,500

Smaller body, focused midrange, strong note separation. Detail rather than boom.

SuitsFingerstyle, close-mic recording, playing at the end of the day.

Both are French polished, both take about six months, and both are built one at a time at a single bench in Portland, Oregon. The wood comes from suppliers who know their own stock — Pacific Rim Tonewoods, Hibdon Hardwood, Alaska Specialty Woods, and a few others.

If you are not sure which one you want, that is a good reason to start the conversation — describing how you play is more useful than picking a shape.
